Students who successfully complete this major will be able to:
- Describe the principles of evolution and genetics that underlie all biology.
- Demonstrate a broad and integrated understanding of interactions between species and their environments: including species origins, behavior, and diversity, including how to characterize and protect this diversity.
- Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the relationships between structure and function in organismal (including human) health and physiology.
- Describe the basic principles of scientific inquiry and the importance of scientific study in integrative biology.
- Engage in the process of data collection, statistical analysis, and graphing including basic principles of experimental and sampling design.
- Critically evaluate data, develop hypotheses, and interpret biological experiments.
- Effectively communicate through written and/or oral presentation of scientific results.
