  • Abinash Achrekar (BA 1995) has been appointed the deputy secretary of health for the state of New Mexico. Previously, he was an associate professor of cardiology at the University of New Mexico.
  • Will Freyman (PhD 2017) has completed a postdoc in the Goldberg lab at the University of Minnesota working on computational phylogenetics. He is now a population geneticist on the research team at 23andMe.
  • John Gaudet (PhD Botany 1963) is the author of three books to date, including Papyrus: the Plant that Changed the World from Ancient Egypt to Today’s Water Wars, which focuses on the tropical papyrus swamps of Africa and the life cycle and ecology of the giant sedge, Cyperus papyrus.
  • Jesyka Melendez (PhD 2018) image, is currently an NSF postdoctoral fellow at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, where she studies chemical communication in Heliconius butterflies and works on various outreach efforts to increase access to STEM education in K-12 classrooms in Puerto Rico.
  • Emily Pearman (BA 2013) is an epidemiologist/data manager conducting prostate cancer research at the University of California, Los Angeles.
  • Sergey Piterman (BA 2014) recently started a new position as a technical solutions consultant at Google.
  • Samyukta Raman (BA 2018) is a software engineer on the web and mobile team at Marqeta, Inc.
  • Lauren Rehbein (BA 2016) is a hospital laboratory technician at the UCSF Clinical Cancer Genomics Laboratory.
  • Shauna Stahlman (BA 2009) is a senior managing epidemiologist at the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Branch.
  • Skyler Valle (BA 2015) was a former scientific aide at the California Environmental Protection Agency and is currently backpacking the world.
  • Florence Yuan (BA 2016) is a medical student at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.
