Trip to Hyena
Colony
Week of Feb. 23, 2004
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
This week we are taking a trip to the Heyena Colony located at the
Field
Station for the Study of Behavior, Ecology and Reproduction. As with
the Aquatic Park trip, we will meet at the
West Circle of campus,
the one with the big eucalyptus tree in the middle, at
3:00pm for
Monday and Wednesday and at
3:30pm for Tuesday.
There is a
handout associated with this field trip (don't worry it's short).
If you can drive, show up at the above time and location. If you can drive
and have not signed up, email
Sam or
Kristen according
to your section.
Directions:
- Start on Gayley Rd./Piedmont Ave. on the East side of campus.
- Get on Stadium Rim Way. Just follow the signs for the Botanical Garden
or Lawrence Hall of Science. This turn will be left if you are coming
from the North and a right if you
are
coming
from
the
South.
- Make a left onto Centennial Drive. Again you will be following the
signs for the Botanical Garden.
- After you pass the Batanical Garden you will arrive at the intersection
of Grizzly Peak Blvd. and Centennial Drive. (star on the map below).
Make a right here onto Grizzly Peak.
- Go up Grizzly Peak. You will pass some buildings (Math, Physics and
Astronomy) on your right as the road winds up and to the left.
- You will see a green metal gate on the right side of the road. There
will be some structures inside that look like temporary buildings. Don't
go too fast or, you'll miss it!
- Sam or Kristen will be at the gate to show you were to park, etc.
