Lab sections will be assigned during the first day of class. Students are expected to attend all lectures plus the weekly lab/discussion section. Labs and discussion will focus on topics not covered in lecture and lab-based assignments will comprise 33% of the final grade.

Recommended text:
Introduction to Behavioural Ecology. 3rd edition. J. R. Krebs and N. B. Davies. 1993. Blackwell Scientific Publishers.

Exams and grading:
The final course grade will be based on a total of 350 points, as indicated below. Grades will be curved to reflect the actual distribution of point totals for members of the course.
2 Midterm exams (100 pts each): 200 points
2 critiques (25 pts each): 50 points
Techniques symposium: 25 points
Lab short exercises 50 points
Zoo trip report: 25 points
Fly lab report: 50 points

Total: 400 points

All exams will be held in class on the days designated on the syllabus. Persons requesting special testing conditions should contact the instructor at least one week before the first exam.

Policy on cheating:
Cheating will not be tolerated. Cheating includes both copying of answers during written exams and plagiarism of written assignments. Students caught cheating will receive a score of zero for that exam or assignment and will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct.

Missed exams and assignments:
Students who miss an exam or assignment will be allowed to make up that portion of their grade only with written verification of illness or family emergency. If you know in advance that you will miss and exam or assignment deadline for a legitimate reason, you must notify the instructor of the course in advance.
