Plants and Fungi Review Session:

Professor Feldman will hold a review session on Thursday, May 3, 4-5 PM in 155 Dwinelle.

Test Rooms for Final Exam:

Here are the test rooms for the final exam, held on Monday, May 7, 8-11 AM.

Earn 2 Lab Points by Taking Evolution Lab Survey:

You can earn 2 extra points in lab by taking an evolution lab survey. If you weren't at lecture in person on Monday (April 23), you can watch a short video about this (not included in the Webcast version).

Lecture Schedule and Reading Assignments:

Lecture begins on Wed. January 18 with Plant and Fungal Diversity (Dr. Lewis Feldman), followed by Evolution (Dr. Craig Moritz) and wraps up with Ecology (Dr. George Roderick). The lecture schedules for each section are (or will be as the semester progresses) available at these links or by clicking the corresponding pictures at the top of the page.

Lab Manual:

We no longer publish a lab manual that you are required to purchase. Rather, each lab exercise is available to download (in PDF format) from the Laboratory Schedule page.

Bio. 1B Tutoring:

Terry Curren will provide tutoring to students every Friday (beginning January 27) from 10-11:30 AM in 2013 VLSB.

Warning To Cheaters:

Here is a Warning to Cheaters, a letter that was written by a former Biology 1B student who was caught and disciplined. This student was obligated to share this letter with their peers in part to fulfill the requirement for readmittence.

Tips for Taking Multiple-Choice Exams:

Dr. John Latto, who has taught this course during previous summer sessions, has written a Guide for Taking Exams based on Multiple-Choice Questions which he has graciously allowed us to share with you.

About PDF files:

PDF (Portable Document Format) files are used extensively on this site and the internet in general, as they are (computer) platform independent (that is, the files can be exchanged between hardware running different operating systems, whether it is Windows, Mac OS, Linux). Software is readily available to open, view and print PDF files. Many computer systems come pre-installed with software that can do this. If your computer lacks software that can open PDF files, then download the free Adobe Reader program from this link (Adobe created the PDF file format). Be sure to select the correct platform and operating system for your computer.
