FAQ
Where is the SVC located?
We're on campus in the Dept of Integrative Biology in the VLSB.
Valley Life Sciences Bldg ~ Room 2031 ~ 2nd Floor
Why does the SVC require my poster be converted to a PDF file?
A PDF will embed your fonts, colors, and graphics from your original layout and software you have used to design the original poster. PowerPoint files tend to "reformat" or "shift" when opened. We want to preserve your original layout and reduce the time spent troubleshooting files.
Why does the PDF order form not save my information?
Acrobat Reader or Mac Preview will not save correctly. If you don't have Acrobat Professional or you find the form won't save, simply use the Excel order form provided.
Why can't I just email the files?
Two reasons:
- The SVC requires all files be accessible from a central location ~ not in a personal email box.
- Some files are too large to email ~ the upload service allows quick and efficient transfer of large files.

We carry Kraft cardboard tubes in 2 sizes:

Large ~ $5.38 ~ 4" x 42"
You can find permanent plastic tubes at art stores near campus.
Does the SVC ship posters?
We ship via Fed Ex. Shipping options are included on the order form.
- Charges = FedEx rates plus 1 poster tube.
- You'll receive the UC Berkeley discounted rate.
- Shipping is only availabe to customers paying by Chartstring.
- Your chartstring will be charged after we receive FedEx shipping charges.
Where can I find a high resolution image of the Berkeley seal?
Download the seals here or visit the seals page. The UC Berkeley identity site contains guidelines for presentation in general. You can download .eps versions of the seal to use with Adobe Illustrator. The SVC has created .png and .jpg files suitable for Power Point presentations.
Remember to hold the shift key down when downsizing. Never upsize ~ seals will pixelate!
.PNGs > Use when you don't want the white "box" around it. Example: against a colored banner.
.JPGs > Use against a white background. These will have a white "box" around them.
All seals > Both sets.
Scour our website ~ it has all the info you need. If not, send us a note: |
