Diplomas

The ceremonial scroll you receive at Commencement is not a diploma, since degrees take several months to process. Diplomas are available approximately 4-5 months after each graduation date.

Picking up Your Diploma

  • Diplomas can be picked up from the Diploma Office in 120 Sproul Hall at no charge.
  • You must have a photo ID.
  • To have someone else pick up your diploma, the person must have an authorization letter from you, and a photo ID.

Undergrad Diplomas by Mail

  • When you placed yourself on the degree list, you were prompted to give a "DIPLOMA ADDRESS." If you have done this, you're good to go.
  • If you did not/cannot use Bear Facts to update your diploma mailing address, contact the Office of the Registrar Diploma Unit via email (orreg@berkeley.edu) or phone: 510-642-6765.
  • Verify that the name on your Cal1Card is the name you would like on your diploma. Any corrections to your official name must be made at the Office of the Registrar before the end of your last term at Cal.

Unclaimed diplomas are retained for a period of five (5) years only, after which they are destroyed.

Questions can be addressed to the Diploma Office at 510-642-6765 email (orreg@berkeley.edu).

For information about transcripts, or if requesting a verification of your degree, see Degree Verification.
