Graduation Checklist for IB Undergraduates

Degree Check
- Make sure all university, college, and major requirements are completed.
- To check, request a DARS report through Bear Facts. NB: Regrettably IB requirements for Undergraduates are not well-reported by DARS. A meeting with Gwen or Nancy in 2033 VLSB is the authoritative "check" on your IB requirements.
- For discrepancies regarding an L&S requirement (seven-course breadth, Reading & Comp, Quantitative Reasoning, Foreign Language), see an L&S advisor in 113 Campbell.
- For concerns in the major, see a major advisor in 2033 VLSB (not your Faculty Advisor).
Degree List
- There are three different degree dates: Spring, Summer, or Fall. When are you officially graduating? That will be the term in which you should join the Degree List.
- To graduate, you must "declare your candidacy" by the beginning of the term you expect to complete ALL your degree requirements. Adding to the Degree List is the proper way to "declare candidacy". Being on the Degree List DOES NOT equate with RSVP'ing for the IB Commencement.
Finishing in Spring 2008?
- Add yourself to the Spring 2008 degree list via Tele-BEARS by the 1st day of classes.
- Verify your degree list status by checking your "Profile" on Bear Facts and reviewing the "Degree Candidate" status.
- If you are graduating this semester and are not yet on the degree list, you'll need to file a "Petition to be Added to the Degree List [PDF]" at 113 Campbell by March 14th. After March 14, Degree List adds require an extra step, so act early.
- You can remove yourself from the Degree List via L&S petition by the last day of the term. Consult the advisors in 113 Campbell Hall for specifics.
Finishing in Summer or Fall 2008?
- Add yourself to the Summer or Fall 2008 degree list throughTele-BEARS (when registering for your summer or fall classes).
- NOTE: You may participate in the IB Commencement ceremony only if completing all IB requirements by Summer '08.
Sign up to RSVP online for the May 24th IB Commencement Ceremony and reserve a maximum of four (4) free tickets.
- Graduating students: If you are eligible to participate in the IB Ceremony, please go to the RSVP page by FEB. 29, 2008. This is how to reserve your 4 free tickets and ensure your name will be in the printed program.
- Last chance to ensure that your name appears in the program is February 29, 2008.
Check the rest of the Graduation & Commencement Section for additional information.
MAKE ARRANGEMENTS for you and your guests. Check Berkeley's Convention & Visitor's Bureau website for lodging & other helpful information.
Order your Grad Pack (e.g., graduation announcements) and/or rent your cap & gown from the Cal Student Store.

- You can pick yours up in person for free or arrange to have it mailed to you for a fee. See the Registrar's website for more information.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR GRADUATES!!
