I am a 4th year graduate student in Wayne Sousa's lab at UC Berkeley. I'm generally interested in community ecology. I am interested in questions across a broad range of spatial scales: from my experimental plots, (which are as small as 12x12 cm) to patterns at the continental scale. In addition, I am interested in the role of scale itself in shaping our perception and understanding of ecological patterns and processes.

My thesis work is in two areas. First, I am examing the effects of various restoration treatments on community patterns across scales in a California coastal prairie. The second topic of my thesis addresses the role of continental geometry in shaping macroecological patterns of New World birds and mammals.
