Automation and simplification of laboratory analysis with emphasis on computer controlled equipment, gas analysis and isotope measurement.
Specific areas of expertise include trace gas analysis, automated isotope ratio measurement, ICP analysis and FTIR.
Specialized Techniques:
Development of methods for 15N analysis, including diffusion techniques for NH4 and NO3 in dilute solutions, atom % 15N in N2O at atmospheric
concentrations, and automation of gas analysis for multiple samples. Skilled in automated analysis of CO2, N2O and CH4 from soil covers for flux
measurements, rapid plant analysis by ICP and measurement of soil microbial biomass.
