IB GSI Appointment Application
For a list of courses for which we will be hiring GSIs please see: Projected GSI Courses for Fall 2012 [PDF]. Note that the number of GSIs required for a course is subject to change. Such changes may result in a change in your appointment to another course.
All GSI appointments are 50% time appointments unless otherwise noted and include partial fee offsets. (GSI appointments do not include offsets for the Berkeley campus fee, class pass fee, professional degree tuition, or non-resident supplemental tuition). Applicants must meet all Graduate Division requirements for the GSI appointment including being a registered graduate student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and no more than 2 incompletes. For additional details on requirements for GSI appointments please download the GSI appointment policies [PDF].
All first-time GSIs are required:
- to attend the Teaching Conference for GSIs on the Friday before classes begin,
- complete an online course: Professional Standards and Ethics for GSIs, before the end of the third week of teaching,
- enroll in a semester-long, 300-level course on teaching in the discipline either prior to or concurrent with the first teaching assignment.
