Vernal Pools at the UC Botanical Garden

The phenomenon of vernal pools is a springtime event in their natural environment. The UC Botanical Garden has reconstructed the plant communities that depend on the environmental conditions that that lead to their natural establishment in various parts of California. Unfortunately, you will not see these communities during the fall semester as part of your laboratory exercise held at the UC Botanical Garden. However, below are pictures of the vernal pools at the UC Botanical Garden that you would see if you visit during late April. All photos by Mike Moser.
