Description: The diversity of life is the product of evolutionary changes. This course will integrate fossil and molecular data to consider some of the outstanding questions in the study of evolution. Major topics covered include the origin and early evolution of life, the expansion of the biosphere through time, the generation of variation and the mechanisms of natural selection, genetics and developmental evolution, and the relationships between microevolution and macroevolution.
Prerequisites: Biology 1A, 1B
Restricted To: Majority of seats are reserved for IB majors during Phase I; 5+ Terms in Attendance during Phase II.
