MajorDomo is automated software for maintaining email lists. To interact with the MajorDomo server, you send commands using email. The SCIBUGS use domo lists to announce meetings, events, internships, and as an open forum for the members.

The SCIBUGS have three different lists for you to join:

• scibugs_official - This list is used to publicize upcoming meetings, trips, and SCIBUGS events. Everyone should join this list.
  
• scibugs_announce - The "scibugs_announce" list is used to distribute internship information and tell you about non-SCIBUGS sponsored events. This list is useful if you are looking for internships or extracurricular activities.
  
• scibugs_members - This list is an open discussion forum. SCIBUGS members who join this list can use it to post questions and reply to them. It is a great way to share information, organize study groups, get advice on classes and meet other students. While the topic of this list is open, abusing it or violating the policies of the University of California will get you banned.

It is recommended that you join all of the lists to see if you find them useful. If you no longer wish to receive emails from a particular list, you may unsubscribe yourself at any time. The reason that we have three lists is so you can customize the information that you want to receive.

To subscribe to a particular list, send an email to majordomo@uclink.berkeley.edu with only the following command contained in the BODY of the message (everything else is ignored by MajorDomo):

subscribe list_name

The list_name is either scibugs_official, scibugs_announce, or scibugs_members. If you wish to subscribe to them all, you will have to do so individually. After you subscribe, you should get a confirmation message from MajorDomo and the list. Please take a moment to read it, as it will tell how to manage your subscription.

If you no longer wish to receive mail from a particular list, send an email to majordomo@uclink.berkeley.edu with only the following command contained in the BODY of the message:

unsubscribe list_name

The list_name is either scibugs_official, scibugs_announce, or scibugs_members. You should then get a confirmation message that the "unsubscribe" has succeeded. To unsubscribe using a different e-mail address, send the following command:

unsubscribe list_name e-mail

Such a request will take longer to process because it will require an intervention by the list owner.

If you would like to post a message to the scibugs_members list, you must first join the list. Once you have done that, send your email to:

scibugs_members@uclink.berkeley.edu
and it will be distributed to everyone belonging to the scibugs_members list.
